Shaffer & Beam 88 Return To Williams Grove Speedway For Beam Tribute Friday

Mechanicsburg As part of the Friday, September 2 Gary Beam Tribute Race for 410 sprints at Williams Grove Speedway, the car’s most prolific pilot Todd Shaffer of Millerstown will be signing autographs in the infield prior to the event.

 

Known as “Mr. Excitement,” Shaffer garnered Gary Beam and his wife Patty a trio of track titles at Williams Grove Speedway in 1995, 2007 and in 2009 to go along with a total.

 

Shaffer has been retired from the sport for several years but will return to the track on Friday for the special event.

 

In addition, numerous pieces of historical Beam team memorabilia will be on display for the night in the infield.

 

But the biggest news of the night will be the reemergence of the Beam No. 88 colors for the special race. 

 

A special Beam No. 88 sprint car will be campaigned in the event in honor of Beam’s contribution to the sport. 

 

However just who will pilot the famed Beam machine is yet to be announced. 

 

The Beam Tribute will showcase the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars in a 25-lap main event paying a hefty $4,088 to win in honor of Beam’s famed No. 88 sprint car.

 

Time trials will be used to set the sprint car lineups for the night. 

 

The 358 late models will join the 410 sprints for the show with $800 posted to win the limited late model main.

 

Fireworks will also help kickoff the holiday weekend.

 

Adult general admission is $16 for the racing program with youth ages 13 – 20 priced at $10.   

 

Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for free at Williams Grove Speedway!
