All Stars To Invade Williams Grove For Gunn Memorial Twin 20s August 23

Mechanicsburg - The All Stars Circuit of Champions Sprints are headed to Williams Grove Speedway, coming up on Friday, August 23 at 7:30 pm.

Presented by Union Quarries, the All Stars will be at Williams Grove to compete in the annual Jack Gunn Memorial, run again this season as twin 20 lap mains for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars.

An early season All Stars invasion at Williams Grove fell victim to rain so the August 23 show will be the first of the year at the track for the touring stars.

The Jack Gunn Memorial twin 20-lap mains will each pay $4,000 to win with total purses for each feature worth over $20,000 each.

The All Stars will be led into Williams Grove by series point leader Aaron Reutzel of Clute, Texas, who has six wins under this belt on the circuit this season and the pole in the recently completed Knoxville Nationals.

Reutzel is going for his second All Stars circuit title in a row in 2019.

Perennial series champion Dale Blaney rides second in the season point standings while upstart Californian Cory Eliason holds down the third spot in tour points.

Last year in All Stars Jack Gunn Memorial action, Freddie Rahmer and Jim Siegel scored the wins in twin 20s action, holding the All Stars scoreless at Williams Grove throughout history.

The All Stars first raced at Williams Grove in 1970 and no bonafide touring All Star has ever won an All Stars race at the oval.

The locals known as the Pennsylvania Posse hold a perfect 34-0 record of victory against the touring stars as they prepare to take on Williams Grove Speedway again.

After the August 23 racing program, the All Stars Circuit of Champions will return to Williams Grove on Friday, September 20 to contest the make up Tommy Hinnershitz Memorial.

First run in 1983, the Gunn Memorial honors late Williams Grove promoter Jack Gunn.

Gunn was a Hall of Fame Promoter who heralded the speedway as promoter from 1967 until his untimely death from cancer at the age of 48 in 1980. He began working at the track during the early 1960s.

Gunn was feted nationally as 1979 Promoter of the Year.
