Mike Enders, Gene
Knaub, and Steven Dove Win Williams Grove Speedway Saturday Races
Mechanicsburg, PA
June 15, 2014
Mike Enders’ amazing 2014 season continued Saturday night
with a victory in the 20 lap Williams Grove Speedway Blazer’s Body Shop Super
Sportsman feature.
Competing for one of the low-budget operations, the
current point leader won his first feature of the year.
After five days of rain, including over two inches of
precipitation on Thursday, the Williams Grove Speedway surface was very wet.
Stan Wanner led from the start of the Super
Sportsman main.
Scott Dellinger was on the move advancing from his
fifth starting position to second by lap six.
Dellinger became the new leader one lap later.
Mike Enders began the feature in 11th
place.
He was fifth by lap six.
Enders, from Halifax, PA., advanced to third when
the race had its first caution on lap 11.
Scott Dellinger continued to lead with Enders second.
Dellinger, in the 14th
circuit, slid high in turns three and four allowing Enders to become the new
leader.
The caution returned
on lap 15 for a grinding back stretch crash involving top-runners Chad Criswell,
Frankie Herr, and Chad Trout.
Mike Enders led the remaining laps winning by 20 lengths
over Dellinger, Wanner, Rich Eichelberger, and Steve Wilbur.
Herr, Bobby Hockenberry, and Wilbur won the heats races for
the 30-car field.
Russ Mitten was the consolation victor.
Duaine Smith received the Sprint Aces Hard Charger
award.
Roy Miller led the opening circuit of the 20-lap Credit
Connection Auto Sales 358 Late Model feature.
Gene Knaub, the sixth-place starter, was second when
the caution came out at the completion of lap two.
Gene Knaub used the restart to pass leader Miller.
Caution flags on laps four and six kept the
competition close to Knaub.
The race had a long caution-free stretch allowing Knaub to
gain a four-second advantage over a fast-running Kyle Martin.
The final yellow flag came with four-laps remaining.
Gene Knaub, from Dover, PA., controlled the final
four laps winning by 12 lengths over Martin, Jake Jones, Bobby Beard, and Shaun
Jones.
Heat wins for the 31 competitors went to Matt Nailor,
Jones, and Knaub.
The consolation went to Alan Sagi.
Sagi received the Artwerks Hard Charger award.
Dustin Hollinger started on the pole for the 15-lap Aquafun
Pools Street Stock feature.
Eric Tripp was second and fifth-place starter Steven
Dove held third.
Dove progressed into second one lap later.
Hollinger and Dove held a close battle for the lead.
Behind them Tripp, Greg Diehl, and Steve
Hastings were competing for third.
Dove, in the seventh lap, switched to the outside
lane.
He went wide to pass Hollinger in turns one and two.
Hollinger and Diehl hounded leader Steven Dove.
The lead trio, with five laps remaining, went three
wide through turns one and two.
At the exit of turn two Hollinger and Diehl made
contact and crashed.
For the first time in Saturday Night Series history,
Ford-powered cars occupied the two lead positions.
Steven Dove, from Lebanon, PA., led the way with
Steve Hastings in second.
Dove won his first of the year by eight lengths over
Hastings.
Brett Pickel was third, Jeff Haag was in fourth and Mike
Buckley finished fifth.
Hollinger and Haag won the preliminaries for 19 entries.
Todd Bowersox received Artwerks Hard Charger award.
