Best Appearing Car Award added to the 54th annual Champion Racing Oil Williams Grove National Open.

(Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania) With the 2016 racing season heading towards the fall of the year, fans start to turn their thoughts and excitement towards the biggest event for sprint car racing on the east coast. Spectators and competitors from all over the world will converge on the historic Williams Grove Speedway during the September 29th, 30th and October 1st weekend for the 54th edition of the Williams Grove National Open presented again this year by Champion Racing Oil. If you have never attended the National Open at Williams Grove, you’re missing much more than the country’s best sprint car pilots battling side by side for three straight nights, all vying for the east coast’s best 3-day purse. The Williams Grove National Open is an event that just happens to include all of the above racing and so much more.

Added to this year’s event will be the very first Williams Grove National Open Best Appearing Car Award presented by Williams Grove Speedway, BMJ Property Management, K.R.S. Graphics and Miller’s Racing Parts. Up for grabs to the team that wins this year’s best appearing car award will be a cool $1,000 with a twist. The twist is that the winning team will receive $500 plus a new set of front Hoosier tires and in addition, the winning car’s graphic designer receives an additional $500 in recognition of their craft. Trophies and mock checks will also be provided to both.

“It was something Brad (BMJ Management Company) and I wanted to do to add an additional event within this year’s National Open” said KRS Graphics owner Kurt Smith. “Michael Rigsby and Dirt-on-Dirt does this best appearing format for a big late model race every September and we thought it would be cool to bring it to sprint car racing. We got to talking and Jake (Jones) Miller’s Racing Parts jumped in and offered the tires to bolster the deal. On top of that, once it was presented to Kathy (Hughes) she graciously said she would match the $500 cash we had put up towards the award. The winning team will receive their awards prior to the start of racing on Saturday. We are looking for teams that will debut something different then what they have run all year. We also wanted to include the graphic designers in this award. I know firsthand just how much time and effort is put into the design and we wanted to give something back to them also. Hopefully, it will also add a new element of excitement for the National Open fans as they get to be one of the first to view a new design from their favorite driver” added Smith.

The whole weekend should be a great event, with a total 3 day purse of over $275,000 all climaxing with Saturday’s $50,000 to win National Open. On top of all of that, Saturday is also the final Lawrence Chevrolet Williams Grove point race and the championship team will be awarded an additional $16,000 to be split between the championship driver and car owner. Make you plans now to be at Williams Grove Speedway for this spectacular event.
